LandTrust makes paying for & receiving payment for recreation trips as easy as booking a vacation rental. We also designed payments to protect both the Landowners & guests for all bookings through LandTrust. The days of trying to organize cashier's checks or uncomfortable cash on arrival interactions are a thing of the past.
How Payments Work
The guest's payment information is collected when they submit a booking request to a Landowner. Once the Landowner accepts the request, the payment method will be charged for the entire amount at that time.
Whether the reservation is two days or two months away, LandTrust holds the payment until the final day of the booking, at which point we initiate a direct deposit to the Landowner's bank account connected to their LandTrust account. This hold gives both parties time to make sure that everything is as expected with the booking.
Example:
- On March 1st, a guest uses LandTrust to find a listing with deer hunts in Montana, enters their preferred credit card information & makes a booking request for October 1st - October 5th totaling $1,000. At the moment the guest makes the booking request, LandTrust authorizes the full amount of the booking to ensure the credit card has enough balance to pay for the booking if the Landowner accepts it.
- The Landowner accepts the booking request on March 2nd and LandTrust charges the full $1,000 to the guest's credit card. If the Landowner either doesn't accept the booking request after 48 hours or declines the request, the authorization on the guest's credit card will be released.
- LandTrust holds the full amount of the trip, minus LandTrust's fees, until October 5th at which point LandTrust initiates a direct deposit transfer to the Landowners bank account that's connected to their LandTrust account.
